Season Schedule (Coffee Concerts)

The fourth Coffee Concert of the 2011-2012 season will be held Sunday, Jan. 29.

The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike (at Robertsville Road).

David Wasilko, cello, and Cathy Whitten, piano, will play works by Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and other composers.

PAST CONCERTS DURING THE 2011-2012 SEASON

Sunday, Nov. 27.

The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike (at Robertsville Road).

The SON TRIO -- consisting of  three sisters from South Korea -- will perform works by W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, and A. Piazzolla. The sisters are Ah-young Son (piano), Jin-young Son (cello), and Chae-young Son (violin).

In the summer of 2007, the piano trio won First Prize at the “Wiener Klassik” International Competition for Piano Trios in Mürzzuschlag, Austria.

The Son Trio has been invited to perform in numerous concerts worldwide. They have participated in various music festivals for young musicians in Korea; concerts for trios in Sydney, Australia; in Europe (Germany, Slovakia, Italy, Switzerland); at the Brahms Museum in Mürzzuschlag (Austria); at the Landesmusikschule Freistadt (Austria); and at the Time Art Gallery in Vienna. They have also performed in many church concerts and house concerts in and around Vienna.

In the summer of 2009 they toured the southern United States and gave concerts in Chattanooga, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg; Hayesville, N. C.; and Birmingham, Ala.

They were invited to perform as the guest trio by the Vienna Vocal Ensemble/Wiener Vokalensemble in their concert in Vienna.

Music sung by Lisa Griggs, mezzo-soprano, Cheryl Scappaticci, soprano, and Eric White, bass, accompanied by pianists Cathy Whitten and Jane Johnson.

They will be performing music by Bach, Bellini, Bizet, Britten, Dvorak, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Rossini, Verdi, and Vivaldi.
