Anyone with a love for choral music and singing with a group is encouraged to join the all-volunteer Oak Ridge Chorus. New chorus members who are not sure of their voice type can make arrangements to vocalize for the accompanist and get her evaluation. For more information call the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association Office at 865-483-5569.
During the nine-month concert season, the Oak Ridge Chorus will rehearse every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the chorus practice room of Oak Ridge High School. (See map.)
Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 concert series will begin on a Monday in August (not yet determined). In the same month Rosemary Ahmad will begin researsals of interested chorus members and other singers for a reprisal of "Take It Home, Tennessee," a fundraising concert for the Emory Valley Center, that will be held twice at Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. In 2012 interested Chorus members will sing with performers with the Knoxville Opera at a free community concert at the high school.
