Preston Davis has been appointed the new conductor of the Oak Ridge Youth Symphony Orchestra for the 2011-2012 season. The Junior Orchestra, which Preston conducted last season, has been replaced with a group of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students, named Kids with Strings Attached.
Preston completed his master of music education degree at the University of Tennessee, where he earned a B.A. degree in music performance. He was the principal string bass in the UT Symphony Orchestra. He is a staff member of the Oak Ridge Summer Music Conservancy.
