The Oak Ridge Chorus and the Oak Ridge Symphony are excited to announce that auditions are currently being planned for the upcoming season. We are seeking dedicated and talented musicians and singers to join our vibrant musical community.

Oak Ridge Symphony Auditions:

• Instrumentalists Needed: We are seeking skilled musicians for all sections, including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

• Repertoire: Most often we will ask you to prepare at least two contrasting pieces that demonstrate your technical ability and musicality. Sight-reading may also be required. Details to be posted when openings are available.

Current Audition Opportunities

Principal Trumpet 

​The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra is auditioning for the Principal Trumpet position. We are seeking a musician with exceptional playing ability, leadership, and communication skills to contribute artistically and collaboratively to our ensemble. This position reports to the Music Director and personnel manager with oversight from the Board of Directors.

             Audition Date: June 7th 

             The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra (ORSO) announces auditions for the position of Principal Trumpet. This is a per-service position beginning in the                        2026–2027 season.

       

        I. ELIGIBILITY & RESIDENCY

            ORSO is a regional ensemble. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Oak Ridge/Knoxville, TN.

•       Travel/Lodging: Transportation, mileage, and lodging are not provided for auditions or regular season services.

•       Work Status: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States at the time of the audition.

       

        II. AUDITION PROCESS

The audition process will be conducted in two stages:

• ROUND 1 (VIRTUAL PRELIMINARY): Video submission due by May 9th

  • Results and feedback sent by May 16th and schedule final Auditions

• ROUND 2 (LIVE FINAL): By invitation only. Held in Oak Ridge, TN on June 7th 1pm-TBD.

  • ​If you are selected for this round an email will arrive with instructions to register for your audition time. ​​

    • ​A $25 audition registration fee is required at the time of registration for your audition.

VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Videos should be recorded in one continuous take if possible.

• Audio must be clear, undistorted, and recorded at a professional distance.

• Separate tracks for each excerpt are acceptable only if clearly labeled and submitted within a single playlist link.

​Sub- Musicians

​The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra is now also accepting video auditions from qualified applicants for all orchestral instruments for our substitute lists. ​​​​​​​

Oak Ridge Chorus Auditions:

Vocalists Needed: We welcome singers of all voice types as a volunteer chrous.

Open call throughout the season. We do occasionally audition for paid lead positions. Stay tuned for openings.

Repertoire: Prepare a classical piece that highlights your vocal range and skills. Additional sight-reading and vocal exercises may be part of the audition process.
