Meet the Performers

Joel Brown (baritone) is a Lincoln, Nebraska native who holds a master's degree in performance from the University of Tennessee. A rising star in the Knoxville opera scene, Joel has performed with Knoxville Opera (most recently as Le Dancaïre in Carmen and the title role's notary in the upcoming Gianni Schicchi), Marble City Opera, and the Scruffy City Orchestra. For the cabaret, Joel promises a set that is equal parts romantic and sophisticated — from the jazz standard Stardust to Fauré's moonlit Clair de lune and Mancini's Moon River.

Shauntina Collins (alto) brings 30 years of professional experience as a performer and educator to the cabaret stage. A beloved voice faculty member at Pellissippi State Community College, Shauntina has sung jazz, pop, and country at venues across Kentucky and East Tennessee and has appeared in musical theatre, oratorio, radio, television, and film. Her set promises something for everyone — from the anthemic Cabaret to Piaf's iconic La vie en rose and Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now.

Liz Elliott (soprano) is a homegrown Oak Ridge talent who holds a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University and has been performing across the region ever since — from her memorable turn as Jan in the Oak Ridge Playhouse production of Grease to her current roles as a member of the Knoxville Opera Chorus and section leader at First Presbyterian Church. Liz's cabaret set spans Gershwin, Mozart, and Bock & Harnick, with all the warmth and wit she is known for.

Kaitie Fernandez (soprano) is a Knoxville native, competitive powerhouse, and soprano section leader of the Oak Ridge Chorus. A First Place winner at the American Protégé competition and a three-time Carnegie Hall performer — with another Carnegie appearance scheduled for June 2026 — Kaitie has performed with the North Carolina Opera in major productions including Aida, Carmen, and the world premiere of Sanctuary Road. Her cabaret set ranges from Puccini to Sara Bareilles.

John Overholt (tenor) hails from Newport, Tennessee, and trained at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His portrayal of Justice Antonin Scalia in the world premiere of Derrick Wang's Scalia/Ginsburgat the Castleton Festival earned national attention, including a feature on NPR. John has appeared with Knoxville Opera, Sarasota Opera, and Cincinnati Opera. For the cabaret, John delivers a set that runs the full arc of the tenor repertoire — from Puccini's Nessun dorma to the tender Bring Him Homefrom Les Misérables.

Course 3: Choice between Filet medallions with mashed potatoes and

Southern green beans, Snapper francaise with rice pilaf and asparagus,

Chicken marsala over linguine, Portobello stack (portobello cap on a

bed of rice, topped with a sauteed vegetable medley and vegan

mozzarella)
