Sarah Henrich
Oak Ridge Chorus

Sarah Henrich is an experienced conductor, soprano, and music educator who has directed adult and youth choirs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, and Tennessee. She currently serves as Chorus Director for the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association, where she leads the Oak Ridge Chorus in concerts, community collaborations, and performances of major choral-orchestral works, and regularly conducts musicians from the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra.
Previously, Sarah served on the faculty of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music (WCM), holding the roles of Vocal Department Chair and Associate Director of the Milwaukee Children’s Choir. During her tenure at WCM, she directed choirs, taught voice lessons, and led numerous music camps and community initiatives and worked to expand access to music education in schools throughout the greater Milwaukee area through WCM’s Connections Program.
In addition to her institutional work, Sarah has worked as a clinician for adult and children’s festival choirs. She also contributed to the field as a CD reviewer for Choral Journal, the international publication of the American Choral Directors Association.
As a soprano, Sarah has presented solo recitals in Milwaukee and performed as a professional chorister with ensembles including the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, Bel Canto Chorus, Canticum Novum, Denver Symphony Chorus, Knoxville Chamber Chorale, Amadeus Chamber Ensemble, and Knoxville Opera.
Sarah has been active in church music ministry as a worship coordinator, choir director, and pianist. Recognizing a need for early childhood music education in her community, she founded a program to serve infants through preschool-aged children and their families in Knoxville. In 2019, she was a keynote speaker for Hearts and Hands, a workshop for artists and creatives.
As an educator and conductor, Sarah believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to perform in ensembles, making music to build community and inspire the next generation of musicians.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Martin Luther College and a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy from The University of Iowa, where she also served as a teaching assistant, accompanist, and guest conductor for the University Choir and Women’s Choir. Her conducting mentors include Timothy Stalter, Kermit Moldenhauer, and Paul Adickes.
