Katelyn Adams

Bass

Hailing from Buffalo, NY, Katie Adams began her journey on the double bass at age 9, studying with Brett Shurtliffe. She then moved to Ithaca, NY to complete her Bachelor's degree in Music Education while studying with Nicholas Walker and Will Cravy. She made the move to Knoxville, TN during the summer of 2020 to continue her education at the University of Tennessee with Jon Hamar. Since graduating in 2022, Adams has put her music education experience to use, teaching not only the bass, but violin, viola, cello, guitar, and mandolin as well. She served as an adjunct faculty member at East Tennessee State University for a few years, growing the bass program from two to fourteen students. In the orchestral world, you'll find Adams performing with the Oak Ridge Symphony, Symphony of the Mountains, or the Brevard Philharmonic. Adams balances her musical tastes by performing other styles of music, namely folk, bluegrass, rock, and jazz. Her main project is her "living room folk" quartet, Redd and the Paper Flowers, which she joined in 2022. When she isn't performing, recording, or touring, Adams is either working at Rush's Music or walking her dog, Peppa.
