Shelby Shankland

Flute

Shelby Shankland has been ORSO's principal flutist since 2012, and is now our orchestra's Personnel Manager. Prior to that, she played second flute and piccolo for the Marin Symphony in San Rafael, CA from 1997-2010, and graduated from SFCM in 1995. In addition to her musical pursuits, she is a certified practicing life coach and reiki master, working mostly with women who are seeking to elevate their mindsets in order to create a more joyful and purposeful life. Previously, she worked in the corporate sector as an office manager, project manager, team lead, and executive coach for 20+ years. Her primary values are fun and humor, compassion, personal growth, and family. She lives in College Hill in Maryville, is happily married (21 years!) to her husband, Scott, and the proud mama of Zoe (18, flutist), Jack (13, cellist & pianist), and Henry (a very stinky hound dog).
