Matthew Younglove
Saxophone
Award-winning concert saxophonist and pedagogue Matthew Younglove has performed concerts and recitals across the United States, France, Croatia, Canada, Spain, and the UK. He currently serves on the faculty of Tennessee Technological University as Assistant Professor of Saxophone and as an Archivist for the North American Saxophone Alliance. His playing has been hailed by critics as “a visceral and arresting experience” (icareifyoulisten.org) and “presenting the vocal quality of the saxophone in the best possible light” (thesaxophonist.org). “Talented performers like Younglove are able to perform so mesmerizingly that even proponents of more traditional music couldn’t fail to be sucked in.” (The Oberlin Review)
He has performed with ensembles such as the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Flint Symphony Orchestra, Charleston (SC) Symphony Orchestra, South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, and is principal saxophonist of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with the Bowling Green State University Wind Symphony, Wayne State University Wind Symphony, Minot Symphony Orchestra, Florence (SC) Symphony Orchestra, Motor City Symphony Orchestra, International Symphony Orchestra, Wayne State University Symphony Orchestra, the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, University of Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Wayne State University Concert Band, and the Warren (MI) Concert Band.
As a member of the award-winning Assembly Quartet he frequently tours the US and abroad performing concerts and engaging in educational outreach performances. Matthew Younglove is a Conn-Selmer Artist Clinician, playing Selmer (Paris) saxophones exclusively, and a Vandoren Artist-Clinician, performing on Vandoren reeds, mouthpieces, and ligatures.
